Great Flood in Thailand

I experienced great flood in Bangkok once when I was a kid, but the devastating floods in Thailand are now just unbelievable. When I see pictures that Thai people share on Facebook, Twitter, and blogs, I can’t help but feel sorry for victims. This is probably one of the biggest disaster in Thailand’s history.

Floods are coming to the area where my parents’ house is located and expected to pass through this area before flowing into the Gulf of Thailand. This is scary!!! I really hope the flood would go somewhere else or leave minimal impact to our area.

Let’s take a look at our great lessons learned from this disaster. These pictures were collected from multiple sources. Thanks everyone for sharing!

Face-lifted Facebook

I had to admit that I was hesitate a little in deciding if I wanted to change my Facebook interface. Then, I saw a lot of friends using and bragging about it. So, I decided to give it a try. Oh WOWWWW! I’m digesting it now LOL! Ton and ton of my facebook activities will be exposed!! I’m not sure if this is a good thing…

Like I said.. I’m digesting haha! Facebook timeline went all the way back to the date I signed up an account. Can you believe that? I mean.. you have to try it for yourself and then you will see what I mean. The process to change the interface isn’t bad at all. You can follow the instruction here.

Adobe Flash’s Unclear Future

As you know, Adobe Flash was abandoned by Apple. Your iPhone and iPad will not be able to display anything that contains Flash. It has been debating whether it was Apple’s bad decision or Flash really sucks. Guess what? Microsoft’s declared that the tablet version of Internet Explorer 10 on Windows 8 will be a “plug-in free” browser. In another word, Flash get ditched for Microsoft’s upcoming mobile devices. This sounds like a confirmation to support Apple’s decision. Ouch!… Adobe might need to change their game plans to save Flash’s future.

Irene Made Landfall

Since Hurricane Ike slammed into the Texas coast on Sept. 13, 2008, causing the biggest loss of power in the state’s history, Hurricane Irene is the first hurricane that made landfall in the US. this year. In fact, category-1 Hurricane Irene just made landfall in North Carolina this evening. That’s a lot better than what has been predicted. I mean.. it could have been worse. Now, NYC is threatened as it could be on the Hurricane Irene’s path. Hopefully, it will be weakened or at least stay as category 1 hurricane. Hope everyone stays dry and be safe!

10 Brands That Might Be Gone in 2011

An article from Yahoo! Finance predicted that 10 brands that may disappear in 2001 were the following:

Reader’s Digest
Blockbuster
Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group
T-Mobile
Moody’s Corp.
BP
RadioShack
Zale Corps.
Merrill Lynch
Kia Motors Corp.

I don’t even know the half of the brands on the list, but I have to agree that Blockbuster might be gone. Blockbuster stores haven’t been doing well in Mobile too. The rent is way too expensive compared to the Red Box where you can rent a movie for $1. Plus, people can sign up for Netflex and some even has Comcast On Demand. I also have to agree on T-Mobile being in the list too. With AT&T dealing with iPhone and Verizon’s large group of customers, T-Mobile is the No. 4 cellular company in the U.S. Like me, I’ve just switched to AT&T because T-Mobile couldn’t offer an iPhone. Moreover, AT&T has been reducing the service fees and offering more plans to choose. That’s why I think many people might do the same by switching over to AT&T. But, that’s only my opinion.

อะไรกันเนี่ย ตั้งแต่ต้นปีที่ผ่านมา ได้ยินแต่ข่าวภัยธรรมชาติแปลกๆ แรงๆ มาโดยตลอด อย่างเช่น หิมะตกที่เมืองโมบิล ในรอบกี่สิบปีก็ไม่รู้ ภูเขาไฟที่ประเทศไอซ์แลนด์ประทุบ้าง สึนามิบ้าง แผ่นดินไหวบ้าง และเหตุการณ์ที่เกิดขึ้นไม่นานมานี้คือ ถนนยุบเป็นหลุมใหญ่เบ้อเริ่มที่ รัฐแคนซัส ซิตี้ อเมริกา เขื่อนพังเพราะฝนตกหนักที่รัฐ ไอโอว่า และล่าสุดที่เมืองจีนดินถล่ม

ไม่อยากจะคิดเลยว่ากว่าจะถึงสิ้นปี จะเจออะไรอีกบ้างเนี่ย นี่ยังไม่ได้พูดถึงผลกระทบที่จะตามมาหลังจากท่อน้ำมันปิโตรเลี่ยมของบริษัทบีพีที่รั่วเป็นเดือน ไม่รู้ตอนนี้อุดรอยรั่วได้หมดหรือยังก็ไม่รู้ ปีนี้จะมีเฮอริเคนหรือเปล่าก็ไม่แน่ใจ พายุลูกที่กำลังมาโชคดีที่อ่อนตัวลง ต้องลุ้นกันไปถึงเดือนพฤศจิกายนโน่นแน่ะถึงจะหมดฤดูเฮอริเคน

CNNGo ได้ยกให้เมืองกรุงเทพเป็นเมืองที่ยอดเยี่ยมที่สุดในโลก How wondeful!! พร้อมทั้งยังยกเหตุผล 50 ประการ มาสนับสนุนว่าทำไมเค้าถึงได้ให้ กรุงเทพ เป็นอันดับนึง ต้องขอบอกเลยว่าคนเขียนนี่ช่างสร้างสรรค์เหลือเกิน เพราะว่าเหตุผลบางข้อนั้น กอล์ฟยังไม่รู้เลยด้วยซ้ำว่า มีด้วยเหรอในกรุงเทพ?? เหตุผลบางข้อ่านแล้วก็ขำ บางข้ออ่านแล้วก็เออเห็นด้วย แปลกดีแฮะ ลองอ่านในเว็บดูละกันนะครับ

“Tweet” Word is Banned from NYT

The New York Times ออกมาประกาศแล้วว่า จะไม่มีการใช้คำว่า Tweet ในบทความใดๆทั้งสิ้น โดยให้เหตุผลว่า คำว่า Tweet ไม่ใช่คำที่คนทั่วไปจะเข้าใจหรือรู้จักความหมายของมัน หากแต่จะใช้คำว่า Twitter แทน

Oil Spill Impact

จากเหตุการณ์น้ำมันบีพี รั่วที่อ่าวแม็กซิโก ซึ่งตอนนี้ก็ยังคงรั่วอยู่ และตอนนี้น้ำมันที่รั่วก็เริ่มจะลอยเข้าฝั่งมาแล้ว มีข่าวยืนยันว่าตอนนี้น้ำมันได้มาถึงที่ปากอ่าวเมืองโมบิลซะล้ว ถ้าเหตุการณ์ยังไม่ดีขึ้น ก็มีสิทธิ์ที่ปิดหาด

สงสัยปีนี้ คงต้องอดไปเที่ยวทะเลกันซะแล้ว ที่สำคัญงดอาหารจำพวกซีฟู๊ดไปอีกนานนับหลายปีเลยทีเดียว
