Great Flood in Thailand

I experienced great flood in Bangkok once when I was a kid, but the devastating floods in Thailand are now just unbelievable. When I see pictures that Thai people share on Facebook, Twitter, and blogs, I can’t help but feel sorry for victims. This is probably one of the biggest disaster in Thailand’s history.

Floods are coming to the area where my parents’ house is located and expected to pass through this area before flowing into the Gulf of Thailand. This is scary!!! I really hope the flood would go somewhere else or leave minimal impact to our area.

Let’s take a look at our great lessons learned from this disaster. These pictures were collected from multiple sources. Thanks everyone for sharing!

Bloomberg Businessweek website has showed the top 30 ranks of world’s most expensive cities in 2010. Tokyo, Japan takes the crown for this year while last year was only the second rank. What about New York, USA? As you know, the living expense in NewYork is crazy high, but it ranks only the 29th!! Let’s see the first top 10 the most expensive cities.

สำหรับ พี่น้องชาวไทย ที่อยู่อเมริกาแล้วเกิดปัญหาที่ว่า พาสปอร์ตไทยเกิดหมดอายุขึ้นมาก่อนที่จะมีโอกาสเดินทางกลับเมืองไทยเพื่อทำการต่ออายุของพาสปอร์ต สามารถเช็คตาราง Mobile Service ทีมงานคนไทยจากสถานฑูตไทยที่ Washington D.C. เดินทางมาเปิดให้บริการกันตามจุดต่างๆ เพิ่มความสะดวกสบายให้กับคนไทยที่อยุ่ในอเมริกาได้อย่างมากมาย

วันนี้กอล์ฟก็พึ่งขับรถไปทำมา ใช้เวลาทำ 20 นาที แต่ขับรถไป 3 ชม. ฮ่าๆ เอาน่ะ แต่ก็ยังดีที่ไม่ต้องบินไปต่อ พาสปอร์ตกระทันหัน วิธีและขั้นตอนไม่ยากเลย เพียงแค่กรอกขำร้องเพื่อกาานัดหมาย แล้ว Fax หรือ Mail ไปที่สถานฑูตก็ได้ หรือจะ Walk-in ก็ได้เขาไม่ว่า เพียงแต่ว่า ถ้าเอกสารไม่ครบเนี่ย จะมาเสียเที่ยวเปล่าๆ เพราะว่าถ้าเราทำการนัดหมายก่อนแล้วส่งเอกสารให้เขาตรวจสอบก่อน ทีมงานทางสถานฑูต จะโทรมา Confirm หรือแจ้งว่า เขาต้องการเอกสารอะไรเพิ่มก่อนที่จะเดินทาง

ไปที่เว็บไซต์นี่เลยครับ เพื่อเช็ค วันเวลา และสถานที่ แต่ปีนี้ใกล้หมดรับบริการแล้วนะครับ ไม่งั้นก็ต้องรอปีหน้า สถานที่ก็จะซ้ำกันๆคล้ายๆกันทุกปี

แต่ถ้าดูตารางแล้วจะสังเกตว่า ส่วนใหญ่อยู่ในโซน ตะวันออก กับ โซนใต้ ถ้าอยากได้ โซนตะวันตก แถบ Los Angeles ต้องมาที่เว็บไซต์นี่ครับ เป็นเว็บจากกงศุลที่ L.A. ครับ

Happy the 125th Birthday to the Statue of Liberty

June 17th is the Statue of Liberty’s the 125th birthday!! Happy birthday to her!!

According to Wiki, the lady of liberty was departed from France and arrived New York on June 17th, 1885. The people of France gave the statue to the United States in recognition of the friendship between the nations that was established during the American Revolution. Now, she is one of America’s most recognizable landmarks. The statue still stands today on Ellis Island, New York.

HGTV Design Star 2010

มาแล้ว ซีซั่นใหม่สำหรับ HGTV Design Star เริ่มฉายคืนนี้เวลาสามทุ่มตรง รายการนี้เป็นกึ่ง Reality Show ผสมกับการแข่งขันการออกแบบตกแต่งบ้าน รายการนี้มีมาหลายปีแล้ว กอล์ฟได้ติดตามบ้างเป็นครั้งคราว ปีทีแล้วไม่ค่อยสนุกเท่าไหร่ ไม่รู้ปีนี้จะสนุกไหม ต้องลองติดตามดูกัน

HGTV มีชื่อเต็มๆว่า Home & Garden Television ซึ่งก็คือทีวีช่องนี้จะมีพวกรายการเกี่ยวกับแต่งบ้าน สร้างบ้าน แต่งสวน ออกแบบห้องต่างๆ บางทีดูแล้วก็เพลินดี ได้ไอเดียแปลกๆใหม่อยู่เสมอ อยากให้เมืองไทยมีรายการอะไรแบบนี้บ้างจัง

The New York Times ออกมาประกาศแล้วว่า จะไม่มีการใช้คำว่า Tweet ในบทความใดๆทั้งสิ้น โดยให้เหตุผลว่า คำว่า Tweet ไม่ใช่คำที่คนทั่วไปจะเข้าใจหรือรู้จักความหมายของมัน หากแต่จะใช้คำว่า Twitter แทน
