In addition to declare a phase 5 outbreak, WHO had renamed “Swine Flu” to original, technical term of influenza A (H1N1). The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and officials in several states have confirmed at least 120 cases. They are in New York, Texas, California, South Carolina, Delaware and scattered cases in Arizona, Indiana, Kansas, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nevada, Ohio, Minnesota, Colorado, Georgia and Maine.
I found two different news happened in two places, but they share the same kind of trick. Yesterday, I read news about a lady from Florida purchased a new Nintendo DSi for $138 from Walmart. She bought it as a birthday present for her son. When her son opened the box, they both were shocked because there was NO DSi in the box. Instead, the box filled with rocks wrapped in the latest Chinese newspaper. She went back to Walmart and complained about the shocking incident. Wal-Mart initially refused to take the rocks back, deferring to Nintendo, which did the same. Ultimately, Wal-Mart gave in when it was discovered that not only was the box full of rocks, it was full of rocks that had already been returned to the store by a previous customer. The store ended up giving her a refund and a gift certificate for $20. I guess Walmart wants her to buy a planter or vase to fill up those rocks.. hahaha!
Another news I read today was similar to the Walmart incident, but it happened at Best Buy. A customer purchased a MacBook Pro for $2164.89, and when he got home, he learned that it was only a red brick packed with bubble wrap inside the box. He went back to the Best Buy store and talked to the manager who was not willing to help at all. In addition, the manager claimed that Apple sealed the box and there was nothing to do with Best Buy. Therefore, Best Buy will not be responsible for this incident.
OMG… it’s pretty obvious that Best Bust looks guilty!! So.. people.. please remember to check your laptop, notebook, MacBook, etc at the Best Buy store before you leave to make sure there was no brick in there!!
After being tested as a Beta version for a while, Microsoft finally sets the date to officially release the new operating system, Windows 7, on May 5. According to eWeek, the releasing version will have several different features from the Beta one. The Windows 7 UI sports many new task-oriented features, such as Aero Peak, Jumplists and the new Taskbar. End users can reorganize open applications and pin them to the Taskbar. Applications cannot pin themselves, which deters the kind of icon clutter common to the desktop. Windows 7 outperforms its predecessor by most every measure. Boot-up and resume times are quite speedy compared with Vista. Application switching is smoother and faster, too. Wireless connections are faster, applications launch quickly and security features protect with much less nagging.
Here is the cath — Windows 7 won’t install over Windows XP. The software must be installed clean, or over Vista, and data and settings migrated from XP.
So.. I’m not sure if we will have to buy a full license. Microsoft hasn’t announced pricing for Windows 7. Businesses opting for the Enterprise edition will need Software Assurance. It’s reasonable to expect Home Premium and Professional editions to be priced comparably to Vista Home Premium or Enterprise.
A few of my friends have been using Windows 7 and they all love it very much. The most important thing that they praised about was the speed – a lot faster than Vista. I do hope it is faster!! Vista is way slower than XP.
It has been reported that there was the first death caused by Swine Flu in Texas, USA.
“I can confirm the very sad news out of Texas that a child has died of the H1N1 virus,” said Dr. Richard Besser, acting director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In addition, the doctor expected more cases!
Upto now, WHO (World Health Organization) declared that Swine Flue was in level 4 (announced on April 27). Let’s take a look at the scale system below. It will explain what level 4 means.
Wash your hands more often!! This is getting more serious!
Nichkhun modeled on the runway for a famous Korean fashion designer, Andre Kim. He was on the run with his old pal from 2AM (Seulong). Those clothes are awesome!! Nichkhun looked like a prince as Korean people are calling him. These pictures are taken from the Internet, blogs, and news. The credits are on the picture itself.
“Felony stupidity” was what Fran Townsend, a former Homeland Security adviser, referred to the incident happened in New York yesterday.
New Yorkers started to panic when noticing a jet flying very low nearby the Twin Towers which got terrorist attack in 9/11 incident. People screamed, run, and cried because they thought this was another terrorist attack. In fact, this jet was the aircraft which functions as Air Force One when the president is aboard. The purpose was to take part in a classified, government-sanctioned photo shoot. The president wasn’t on the this Air Force One.
The news reported that the president Obama was furious about it. Finally, someone stepped up and took the full responsibility.
The Star’s 5th year has been on air for a while, but I’ve never written a blog about it. The Star is like American Idol – a singing contest. The winner won by the number of votes through SMS.
I have been watching the concert every Saturday. I cannot believe that I really don’t have the most favorite one. Now, it came down to only three contestants who all are boys (Sing-To, Dew, and Fluke). Hmm… who will get the Star 5 title this year???
Sing-To (สิงโต)
Dew (ดิว)
Fluke (ฟลุ๊ค)
After watching the concert this week. I like Sing-To the most. I found him very corny, but I like that. I guess he is only 16 years old boy. That’s why he could do anything and still would be able to get away with that. It seemed like all the judges didn’t like Fluke and wanted him out. I didn’t think he did bad job at all. He’s the first one and I could see he was nerve wrecking. Although Dew’s singing was superb, I found his mini-concert missed something…..I was not sure what it was.
Anyway.. good luck to all contestants. They will become great singers and successful just like those former winners and top-two contestants.
