Awww… poor Carla… She messed it up on the last dish!! I was so disappointed, and America couldn’t disagree more. The vote result before the final announcement showed that 60% something wanted Carla to win. Oh.,.well.. Congratulations to Hosea.. he’s the new Top Chef!

Don’t forget to check your website as often as possible. There is some weird JavaScript embedded to your Index.php (in the Body of the web page). Like 7Speed.info, it secretly sends out some information to 9sense.info website. You have to observe it from the status bar at the bottom of your browser when you are opening the index page. I’m not sure who’s possibly can interfere the FTP process when you are transferring the file.

I have to deal with this problem every 2-3 weeks. This is ridiculous! I have to spent time to re-upload my files. I hope there is some better solution to block the hacking. So.. just be careful when you transfer your files.

วันนี้ขอบอกว่าทำตัวขยันสุดๆ นั่งอ่านนั่งเขียน Dissertation ทั้งวันเลย แต่วิธีการเขียนของกอล์ฟค่อนข้างสับสนอยู่เหมือนกัน คือกอล์ฟรู้ว่าตัวเองจะเขียนอะไร แต่ตัวเองก็ชอบกระโดดข้ามหัวข้อ ไปเขียนหัวข้อนั้น หน่อย กลับมาเขียนหัวข้อนี้หน่อย กลับไปกลับมา แต่ก็ยังดี ยังเขียนได้เรื่อยๆ ถ้าเขียนแบบนี้แล้วมึนสับสนตัวเอง ก็คงจะแย่อยู่เหมือนกัน

ตอนนี้กำลังนั่งเขียนเรื่องความสามารถของสมองคนเราในการรับรู้ข้อมูล คุณคงเคยสงสัยว่า ทำไมบางครั้งเราอ่านหรือเห็นข้อความเพียงครั้งเดียวเราก็จำได้ไปหลายวัน หรือ บางทีต้องท่องอยู่หลายเที่ยวกว่าจะจำได้ หนึ่งในการทดลองที่เกียวกับเรื่องนี้ ก็คือการทดลองอันเลื่องลือที่ชื่อว่า Magical Number Seven กอล์ฟก็จะไม่ขอกล่าวถึงรายละเอียดการทำงานของสมอง หรือระบบการจำของสมองทั้งหมดนะครับ มันจะยืดยาวไปหน่อย แต่กอล์ฟจะขอหยิบยกส่วนที่สำคัญ ที่น่าสนใจและอยากให้คุณได้ลองอ่านและคิดตามดู ซึ่งหัวข้อนี้ก็จะเกี่ยวกับ Working Memory หรือ Short-Term Memory ภาษาไทยจะแปลว่าอะไรดีหนอ เอาเป็นว่ากอล์ฟจะเรียก ความจำช่วงสั้น

“ความจำช่วงสั้น” ชื่อก็บอกอยู่แล้วนะครับ ว่ามันสั้น  ฮ่าๆ ซึ่งก็หมายถึง การที่เรามองหรืออ่านหรือได้ยินอะไร แล้วเราจำได้พักนึง แล้วก็ลืม อีกกรณีนึงก็คือ ข้อมูลนีสามารถส่งผ่านไปยังอีกส่วนนึงของความจำของเราที่เรียกกว่า Long-Term Memory หรือความจำถาวร แต่ blog นี้ จะขอพูดถึง ความจำระยะสั้นเท่านั้นนะครับ

กลับมาพูดถึง คอนเซปต์ที่บอกไว้ Magical Numer Seven หรือ เลขเจ็ดมหัศจรรย์ หลายคนคงสงสัยทำไมต้องเลขเจ็ด อยากให้ลองนึกคิดว่า ทำไม เบอร์โทรศัพท์ ส่วนใหญ่ ต้อง มี 7 หลักด้วย อันนี้ก็เป็นผลจากการทดลอง ของนาย George Miller ในปี 1956 นั่นเอง เขาได้ทำการทดลองเกี่ยวกับความสามารถของสมองที่ทำการบันทึกข้อมูลได้ในระยะสั้นว่า ความจำช่วงระยะสั้นของคนเรามีความสามารถสูงสุดแค่ไหน แต่ผลของการทดลองก็ปรากฏว่า คนส่วนใหญ่ จะสามารถจำข้อมูลระยะสั้นได้ 5-9 ส่วนหรือยูนิตของข้อมูล แต่โดยเฉลี่ยแล้วอยู่ที่ 7 หลักนั่นเอง นั่นก็นเป็นที่มาของคำว่า Magical Number 7!!

นอกจากนี้ นาย Miller ยังได้ค้นพบอีกด้วยว่า การจัดกลุ่ม ยูนิต หรือสัดส่วนของข้อมูลจะได้ทำให้คนเราจำอะไรได้ง่ายขึ้น

มองดูแล้วเหมือนจะจำยากยังไงก็ไม่รู้ เอาเลขมาตั้งเก้าหลักเรียงกัน คุณก็ไม่แน่ใจะว่าจะใช้เวลานานแค่ไหนในการจำ แต่ถ้าหากคุณแบ่งเลขออกเป็นกลุ่ม แบบนี้

การที่กอล์ฟเอาเครื่องหมาย – มาคั่นแบ่งออกเป็นกลุ่มๆละ สามหลัก ทำให้คุณจำได้ง่ายขึ้นไหมเอ่ย

และนี่ก็คงเป็นที่มาว่าทำไมเลขโทรศัพท์ถึงเริ่มที่ 7 หลัก แต่สมัยนี้ ก็มีถึง 10 หลักด้วยเช่นกัน แต่ด้วยการที่เราใช้การแบ่งกลุ่ม หรือที่ฝรั่งเรียกว่า Chunk ก็ทำให้เราสามารถจำเบอร์โทรศัพท์คนอื่นได้ไม่ยากเลยทีเดียว ดังนั้น เวลาคุณเขียนเบอร์โทรศัพท์ให้ใคร หรือ จดเบอร์โทรศัพท์ของคนอื่น อย่าลืม ใช้เครื่องหมาย – หรือเว้นวรรค เข้าช่วยนะครับ มันจะช่วยให้คุณจำได้ง่ายขึ้น

ถ้าจะถามว่า จำเป็นไหมที่จะต้องแบ่ง สามหลักต่อหนึ่งกลุ่ม ก็ไม่เสมอไปหรอกครับ เอาเป็นว่าแบ่งอย่าง่ไรก็ได้ที่คุณคิดว่ามันช่วยให้คุณจำได้ง่ายขึ้น

นี่ถือว่าเป็นการค้นพบที่สำคัญเลยนะครับ หลายคนยังสงสัย ว่าสำคัญตรงไหน ก็แค่รู้ว่าคนเราสามารถจำได้ เจ็ด ยูนิตหรือหลัก เท่านั้น นั่นก็เป็นสิ่งสำคัญ แต่ส่วนตัวแล้ว จุดสำคัญผมคิดว่าอยู่ตรงที่ เรารู้ว่า Chucking หรือ การจัดการข้อมูล นั่นสำคัญมาก มันเป็นสิ่งที่ทำให้คนเราจำอะไรได้เร็วขึ้น ง่ายขึ้น การจัดหมวดหมู่ จัดประเภทข้อมูล จะทำให้คุณสามารถจดจำอะไรได้เร็ว แล้วนาน กว่าการที่คุณพยายามที่จะจดจำข้อมูลนั้นๆแบบดิบๆหรือไม่ได้มีการจัดการข้อมูลใดๆทั้งสิ้น สิ่งนี้คุณสามารถเอาไปประยุกต์ใช้ในชีวิตประจำวันได้นะครับ เป็นการเพิ่มประสิทธิภาพการจดจำข้อมูลของคุณให้เร็วขึ้น ดีขึ้น และนานขึ้น

OK. This is another grossed story I have found on BoingBoing website. The news reported that

the six-pound rat was caught by a Chinese man, named Xian, at the weekend in a residential area of Fuzhou, a city of six million people on China’s south coast.

It is claimed that the rat s a Baboo rat which is normally can grow up to eight pounds. Ewww..www.

Vee, my friend from Chicago, sent me the news about the world’s longest ear hair. Radhakant Baijpa has grown his ear hair because he believes it’s a symbol of luck and wealthy.
